Question by Emily R: Do I need to reclean my guinea pig cage?
I accidentally put some old hamster toys from my hamster that just passed in my new guinea pigs cage. As far as i know my hamster was sick, do I now need to wash his blankets and reclean the cage?

I would suggest cleaning your guinea pig cage every 3-4 days. They stink pretty easily so idk if the sickness on the toys from your hamster is going to have an effect on the smell

depends. do you know what your hamster died of? i dont think there are any infectious diseases between the 2 species to be honest so you should be ok. (unless it was wet tail which is caused by bacteria such as e.coli, which can affect the guinea pig, and your self as well!)

I would most definitely clean his cage again, just to be on the safe side. It also depends on what illness your hamster had. The only disease your guinea pig can get from your hamster is Wet tail. This is really common in syrian hamsters. If that is the disease your hamster had, take the toys out immediately and clean the cage.
If I was you, I would still clean the cage just in case. :) I hope this helps!

I would most definitely clean the cage so you guinea pig will not get sick and clean with gloves so you wont get a rash or anything
